SR-25 / DPMS

The Standard

  • Fit DPMS, LR-308, SR-25, Knight's and most modern AR-10 lowers.
  • Capacity 10, 20 and 25 rounds common.
  • Calibers .308, 6.5 CM, .243, .22-250.
  • Material Polymer or steel.

Armalite

Original Pattern

  • Fit Older Armalite AR-10 lowers only.
  • Origin Modified M14 magazine.
  • Interchange Not compatible with SR-25 wells.
  • Availability Limited; most new lowers are SR-25 pattern.
  • Check Look at the magwell shape and manufacturer.

Choosing AR-10 Magazines

Pattern, caliber and state.

Pattern

Confirm your lower is SR-25 / DPMS pattern. Nearly all are. Armalite-pattern lowers need Armalite magazines.

Caliber

.308, 6.5 Creedmoor, .243 and .22-250 all feed from .308 magazines. 8.6 Blackout uses .308 magazines as well. .277 Fury has its own notes.

Capacity

20 rounds is the standard .308 magazine. 10-round magazines suit hunting and restricted states.

  • Will AR-15 magazines fit an AR-10?

    No. AR-10 magazines are longer and wider for the .308 case. SR-25 / DPMS pattern magazines are the standard for modern AR-10 lowers.

  • Do 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 use the same magazine?

    Yes. 6.5 Creedmoor, .243 Winchester and .22-250 share the .308 case head and feed from .308 magazines.

  • How do I know if my lower is SR-25 or Armalite pattern?

    Almost every AR-10 lower made in the last fifteen years, including DPMS, LR-308 and PSA PA-10, is SR-25 pattern. Only older Armalite-branded lowers use the Armalite magazine.

  • Do AR-10 magazines ship to all states?

    Magazines over 10 rounds require an FFL address to ship to CA, WA, CT, NJ, New York City or Chicago. Everywhere else they ship directly to you.
